Q. How many openings do you have for each grade?
A. St. Andrew’s begins in 1st Grade. We accept 54 students into the 1st Grade. 2nd-5th Grades are space available grades (we have to lose students in these grades to accept new ones….usually have 3-6 openings per grade per year). In 6th Grade, we open a fourth section and admit at least 10 additional students, but usually about 15. 7th & 8th Grades are both space available grades like 2nd-5th. 9th Grade is an entry point for the Upper School. We generally accept about 50 new students to make the 9th grade class size in the nineties. The 9th grade is made up of returning students from the St. Andrew's 8th Grade and students from around the Austin area and beyond. Admissions for grades 10, 11 and 12 is on a space available basis.
Q. Do you have a waiting list and how long is it?
A. St. Andrew’s tests to enter all grades of the school, therefore, we have an applicant pool rather than a waiting list. Please call the Admissions Office for testing information for each grade.
Q. Why does St. Andrew’s not have a Kindergarten program?
A. St. Andrew’s was founded 1952 by three Episcopal Churches: St. David’s, Good Shepherd, and All Saint’s. They each have Pre-K through Kindergarten programs and, out of respect, we do not compete with them.
