Welcome to the Board of Trustees Web page. We recognize that open
communication with our community is a vital component of a successful
school. To further open the lines of communication, the Board will be
regularly communicating with the community through the SAS Web site.
St. Andrew's Board of Trustees is entrusted with the responsibility of operating the non-profit
corporation of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, an independent Episcopal
school. We are a body of twenty-four voting members, seventeen of whom
are Episcopalians as dictated in our bylaws. We serve staggered
three-year terms. The bylaws also state that students here are to be
instructed in the Christian religion according to the teachings of the
Episcopal Church and that we operate an accredited program. The
co-chairs of the Parent’s Council both sit on the Board.
We
divide the duties of management with Head of School Lucy Nazro, our
sole employee. The Board manages the assets and finances of the school,
undertakes expansion projects, and oversees the physical plant. We
oversee and support the school’s fundraising activities. We conduct the
work with a traditional committee structure.
The Head of School
is responsible for the daily operation of the school, including such
duties as employing faculty and staff, developing the curriculum, and
enacting rules of conduct or discipline.
The Board meets
regularly in order to conduct our business. We have monthly meetings on
alternating campuses, we conduct an annual audit, and we produce the
Long Term Strategic Plan for the school at regular intervals.
