So you’re applying for admission to St. Andrew’s. Great! We’ll have to give you and your family just a little homework. First, begin with step one below, filling out the application. Next, look for the grade your applying to in the tabs above and complete the steps as described. Be sure to pay careful attention to any important dates noted in the instructions. Forms are downloadable in the text as well as in the box to the right.

 


 

STEP 1. FOR ALL GRADES— Fill out and turn in the Application

The admission process officially begins when we receive your application. Please fill it out and turn it in with the non-refundable $100 application fee to the St. Andrew’s Admissions Office before moving on to any part of Step Two.

Students eligible for first grade must be six years old, but no more than seven years four months old on September 1 of the school year in which they will enter. In first grade, fifty-four students are admitted each year.

Applications are accepted on a year-round basis. Families may apply for first grade at any time. First round consideration is given to those whose application is received by February 15 of the child’s Kindergarten year.

 


 

 

The Admissions Test

Each applying child must take a readiness test administered at St. Andrew's Lower School by an independent tester. The fee for the test is $100.00. Assigned testing times are sent to all applicants in January prior to the fall in which the student wishes to be admitted. Testing is in February.

 

Teacher Recommendation
With the assigned testing letter, a form is sent to the applicant's parents, asking them to authorize the release of a recommendation from the applicant's current kindergarten teacher. The actual recommendation form is sent directly from St. Andrew's to the teacher for completion.

 

The Interview
Parents of applicants for first grade are required to make an appointment for an interview with the Director of Admissions or the Lower School Head. Parents are also invited and encouraged to visit the school and take a tour. Tours are offered at Prospective Family Events or by appointment.

The Admissions Test

 

GRADES 2-4: Applicants for grades two through four must take an admissions test administered at St. Andrew's Lower School. Families who have applied are notified of the testing date, which is typically in March prior to the fall the student wishes to attend. A testing fee of $45.00 is charged.

 

GRADE 5: Applicants for grade five are required to take the Independent School EntranceExamination (ISEE). Forms to register for this test may be requested from the St. Andrew's Admissions Office (you must register DIRECTLY with ISEE) or you may register online at www.iseetest.org. For more information about the ISEE, you may call the ISEE Operations Office at 1-800-446-0320 (Eastern Time). St Andrew's School ID Code for ISEE is 447532.

 

Teacher Recommendations

 

GRADES 2-4: One recommendation is required for each applicant and must come from the current homeroom teacher. The recommendation form may be mailed to the applicant if requested or you may print it below. Teachers are to return the recommendations directly to the St. Andrew's Admissions Office.

The Transcript
Each applicant is responsible for having his or her current school forward a copy of his or her complete transcript, including the most recent current year report card, to the Admissions Office at St. Andrew's Lower School. The transcript form may be mailed to the applicant if requested or you may print it below.
