The Advisory Program in the middle school serves three purposes: academic support, social and emotional development, and camaraderie. Advisories are led by a faculty member and divided into girl advisories and boy advisories. Faculty advisors discuss study strategies, help with organization, and offer support to students and their parents. Students are instructed and encouraged to develop skills dealing with self-management, social and self- awareness, building relationships, and responsible decision making. Throughout the year, these pillars of support are provided along with a purposeful integration of fun and celebration; faculty advisors make sure that students plan fun activities together, celebrate birthdays, and engage in silly competitions. This advisory program continues on at the Upper School and evolves into the College Counseling advisory program when the students become seniors.
