FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
All proceeds from Parents' Council fundraisers (except for the Concert for Financial Aid) directly support the Parents' Council Grants Program, which provides funding for faculty and staff continuing education, professional development and enrichment.  Proceeds from the Concert for Financial Aid directly support St. Andrew's Financial Aid Program.

Book Fair  (LS/MS) (Fall, easy, one week intensive)

The Rollins Library holds this major fundraising event, on a Thursday and Friday during the fall.  Book Fair volunteers get a sneak peek at the selection by coming to unload and set up all of the books from Bookpeople.  Duties can also include assisting with checkout Thursday evening and Friday during school hours as well as tearing down on Friday afternoon.  Proceeds benefit the St. Andrew's Rollins Library.


 
Concert for Financial Aid (LS/MS/US) (February)

This festive event raises money for the St. Andrew’s Financial Aid Program. Volunteers are needed for multiple committees such as: underwriting, live auction, silent auction, decorations, reservations, food, signage, music/band support, PR and logistics. There are lots of opportunities to help with a variety of time commitments.  The concert is normally held in February.


 
Easy Money Fundraising (LS) (Easy)

The Parents' Council receives rebates when St. Andrew's parents and friends use grocery cards at Randall’s, Westbank Cleaners, Target credit cards, shop on the internet, and collect box tops. This is an easy way to raise funds without any additional out-of pocket money spent by parents/friends. Volunteers are needed to coordinate and publicize this fundraiser. Proceeds benefit the Parents’ Council’s Grants Program.



Poinsettia Sale (LS/MS/US) (Nov., Dec. Easy)

The Parents’ Council sells poinsettias and holiday wreaths to the SAS community. Proceeds benefit the Parents’ Council’s grant program. Volunteers are needed to coordinate sales logistics and on-site distribution during the week of St. Andrew’s  Day.



Spirit Shop
The Parents’ Council sells St. Andrew’s spirit items at the LS/MS Bookfair, Homecoming, and Family Fair.   Volunteers are needed to purchase, stock, and sell periodically at these events.  A coordinator and volunteers from each campus are needed to keep up with and distribute items to the Lower/Middle and Upper Schools.



 Summer Reading Book Sale (US)

Required summer reading books will be sold on campus by the Parents' Council.  Volunteers are needed to help distribute the purchased books.  Proceeds benefit the Upper School Library.

 

 

SPECIAL EVENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Homecoming (US/MS/LS) (1 day - Fall) (Easy)

Homecoming is an all-school event culminating with a picnic and varsity football game.  The event is held at the Upper School.  Volunteers are needed for Friday morning setup, before picnic registration and check-in, and cleanup. 

 

Latin Banquet (Grades 5-12, Fall) (Easy)

 Volunteers are needed to assist with costume judging, kitchen coordination, and chaperoning Latin students during this fall banquet. The Latin Banquet attendance is required for all Latin students.  This is a fun event that doesn't require a large time commitment.


 

St. Andrew's Day 

Our school celebrates our Patron Saint, St. Andrew.  This special day includes a Holy Communion Service, lunch on the Nazro Green, and a community-wide service project.  This event is held at the Upper School and volunteers are needed to assist with driving Lower School students, setup, lunch service, and breakdown.  This is a light time commitment and a wonderful family event.


 

Grandparents' and Grandfriends' Day (Spring, Easter time) (Easy)

Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to visit classes and Chapel. At the Upper School, this day takes place the Wednesday before Easter Break: at the Lower/Middle Schools it occurs on the Thursday before Easter Break. Volunteers are needed for registration, touring, setup, and breakdown.  This event is coordinated through the Development Office.  This is a light volunteer time commitment, and is a fun family event.


 

Family Fair (LS/MS)

This fun, family event for the Lower and Middle School is an outdoor festival on the 31st street campus  is coordinated by the Parents’ Council in conjunction with the Development Office.  Typically held in the late Spring, Family Fair is managed by a team of co-chairs and parent volunteers who coordinate entertainment for families, setup and breakdown. 


 

ISAS Fine Arts Festival (US/MS/LS)

St. Andrew’s is very excited to announce that we will be hosting the ISAS Arts Festival in April of 2013.  With the opening of the Dell Fine Arts Center, St. Andrew’s will now have the venues to showcase Theatre, Vocal and Instrumental Music and 2-D and 3-D Visual Arts.  Most of the hours needed to run a Festival of 3000 students and faculty fall on the shoulders of parent volunteers.  Only participating students and faculty/parents will be allowed on campus unless you are volunteering.

 

Please put April of 2013 on your calendar and volunteer to help with this once-every-decade event. You can serve on one of the many committees organizing this Festival.

SERVICE  VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES


Admissions Hospitality (Grades 1-8)

A chairperson will help the LS/MS Director of Admissions coordinate volunteers who will provide light refreshments for Open Houses in October, November, December, and January. No setup or clean up is required.


 

Admissions Pre-School Coffees (LS) 
The chairperson will help the LS-MS Director of Admissions coordinate volunteers who will host a coffee or help provide light refreshments for coffees for Episcopal Pre-schools' parents.


 

Admissions 6th Grade Coffees (MS) 
The chairperson will help the LS-MS Director of Admissions host coffees in the months of November and January for prospective 6th grade parents. These events are held at school. 


 

Altar Guild (LS/MS/US) (All year commitment, light)
Volunteers are needed to help with weekly chapel maintenance on both campuses.



Faculty Appreciation Luncheon (LS/MS/US)
Volunteers are needed for the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools to coordinate with the administrative offices to plan special luncheons to show appreciation for the hard work of the St. Andrew’s faculty and staff.  Parent volunteers provide the food, setup and clean up.  This is a special day of recognition.


 

Faculty Appreciation Snacks (LS/MS/US)
Volunteers are needed for each of the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools to plan periodic snacks for the St. Andrew’s faculty and staff to show our appreciation for their hard work and dedication to our children by providing snacks and special treats. Parent volunteers provide the food, setup and clean up.



Art Show Committee (LS/MS) 

Volunteers are needed to help with preparation for the St. Andrew's Annual Spring Art Show.  Duties include matting artwork, helping with setup for art show, bringing refreshments for art show opening night reception and serving refreshments during the art show opening night reception. 

 

Also needed are parent volunteers who will have a 2nd grader for the 2012-2013 school year to help with assembling puppets for the 2nd grade Stone Soup performance prior to Thanksgiving.


 

8th Grade Commencement Reception (Middle School) (45 Minutes)
7th grade parent volunteers are needed to coordinate and serve at a reception for the 8th grade graduates and their parents after the Commencement ceremony.  If your child is in Middle School Choir, this would be an easy opportunity to volunteer and watch your child. 

 

8th grade parents are needed as chaperones for the 8th grade graduation Boat Party.


 

Community Service All School Service Project (3 Hours one day)
Following the chapel service and lunch on St. Andrew's Day, more than 25 volunteers are needed at the Upper School to assist in setting up the supplies in Founders' Hall and the Gym for our service activity.  Parents will stay to help students in 7th-11th grades wrap toys, write letters to the troops, make Christmas cards and assemble manna bags for the homeless.


 

Concessions (US, and 5th-8th) (Easy)
Concession volunteers will oversee concessions sales during specific (division level) sporting events throughout the school year. Volunteers are not expected to assist all events. This is a great way to volunteer in a fun way if your child is participating in a sport.



Development Office Volunteers
The many and varied activities of the Development Office run more smoothly with parent volunteers providing administrative support throughout the year. Activities might include planning small events, envelope addressing and/or stuffing, photocopying and distributing newsletters, managing registration or RSVP’s, and other details handled by the office. Volunteers are needed on a project basis and would be called with a few days’ notice.

Diversity Committee (LS/MS/US)
The Parents' Council Diversity Committee is made up of parents who consider an understanding and appreciation of diversity to be a central aspect of our children's education and of our families' experience in the school community.  The committee sponsors an all-school Meet & Greet event in the fall and organizes regular off-campus social gatherings open to both parents and children.  Parents who wish to become more involved also work with the Director of Diversity to identify diversity issues at the school and develop strategies for making St. Andrew's a genuinely welcoming and inclusive community.



Diversity Committee Back-to-School Meet and Greet Event (LS/MS/US)
Volunteers are needed to help coordinate this social event, which takes place early in the fall semester.


 

Drama Volunteers (LS) 

These volunteers would work with The Theatre Program to help support performances and class-based projects.  Volunteers assist with various shows throughout the school year.  Volunteers organize costumes, gather and make props, publicize performances, clean up after performances, photograph and videotape and prepare the classroom for special projects and events.  Valuable skills include: sewing, painting, organization, and photography.


 

Fine Arts Support (US) 
St. Andrew’s produces endless concerts, performances, and art shows. Our Fine Arts Faculty at all divisions can use help from time to time with the various events. Volunteers for Fine Arts Support will be called upon to help faculty as needed.  



Hospitality Committee (LS/MS/US) 
Volunteers from the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools will help coordinate refreshments for a variety of St. Andrew’s functions such as Back to School night in September, and ocassional other events as needed. Volunteers will coordinate food, drinks, hosting, setup, and clean up for specific events.  A school budget is available for reimbursement.  This is an easy way to volunteer becasue it is not a heavy time commitment.


 

Hot Lunch (LS/MS) (All year commitment) 
Volunteers are needed to serve hot lunch to students in the Lower and Middle Schools. Hot lunch is served four days a week (Tuesday through Friday) and three volunteers are needed to help each day. This is a great opportunity to interface with your child and become more aware of the healthy lunch program being offered.


 

Las Posadas Set Up (Grades 1-4) (December)
Volunteers are needed to help with this special holiday event in December, put on by the Spanish Department for grades 1-4. Help is needed on Thursday night, the evening before the event, from about 7-9:00 p.m. to help set up and decorate the Small Gym. This is a great volunteer opportunity for 2 or 3 dads. Additional volunteers are needed to help serve churros and chocolate and help with clean up from approximately 7:30 am until about 10:30 am on the Friday morning of Las Posadas.


 

Library Angels (LS) 

The Rollins Library could not exist without our wonderful group of Library Angels!  Tasks include reading to your child's class (1st through 3rd grade) during their weekly library time, decorating the library for Christmas and other special events and general maintenance around the library.  Come be a part of your child's love of reading!



Lost and Found (LS/MS) (Easy)
Volunteers are needed twice a year to sort through Lost and Found items on the 31st Street Campus. Volunteers organize days on which items will be displayed for the students before the items that remain are donated to charity.  Grab a friend and come lend a helping hand.  This is an easy and fast volunteer time commitment.


 

Marathon Kids (LS) 
Students in Grades 1 – 4 are eligible to participate in the Marathon Kids’ beginning in October and ending in February. The students run during their PE class, and there are four special running dates during this time period. Work with the P.E. Department to coordinate weekly runs with snacks.


 

Middle School Back-To-School Swim Party (7-8th grades)

This committee will help organize the beginning of school Back-To-School Swim Party for the Middle School.  Duties include coordination of light snacks, drinks, and chaperoning.  Transportation is provided by the Middle School.  This is a light time commitment for volunteers.


 

Open House Welcoming Committee (LS) 
This committee will help set up for the prospective parent open houses throughout the year.  In addition, volunteers may assist with touring.  Tour guides for the Lower or Middle Schools one Tuesday or Friday per month.


 
Parent Education ("Brown Bag Series") (LS/MS/US) (All year, light time commitment)

Parents meet during the lunch hour to listen to speakers talk on a variety of school related or parenting topics.  Volunteers help promote the Brown Bag series, set up and clean up.  Feel free to bring your lunch, as well as your questions.



Parent Education ("Speaker Series") (LS/MS/US) (All year, light time commitment) 

Throughout the year, the St. Andrew’s Parent’s Council collaborates with St. Michael's, St. Stephen's, Trinity, and St. Gabriel's to host a nationally known speaker.  The topics relate to important family and parenting issues. Volunteers are needed to help coordinate, organize and publicize this community event.


 

Parent Gatherings (LS/MS/US)
At the beginning of the school year, parents gather by grade-level for an evening of fun and friendship.  This year, we will host seven gatherings at the Head of School's home, where light appetizers and drinks are served.  These gatherings typically begin at 6:00pm and last until 7:30pm and volunteers are needed to make arrangements for food and drink and help with set up, breakdown and hosting the gatherings.  This is not a major time commitment and is a great opportunity to reconnect with existing families and welcome new ones!


 

Parent Peer Groups (LS/MS/US)
Volunteers from each division will organize informal monthly parent gatherings. The object is to provide a regular and relaxed forum for parents to come together and discuss topics related to their children. (Groups will meet based on two grade level combinations as follows: 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th, 9th/10th, and 11th/12th.)



Parents’ Council Classroom/Grade Representative (1-8)
There is one representative from each classroom or homeroom in grades 1-6 and two representatives for each grade in grades 7-8. Parents’ Council Representatives coordinate grade-level activities (class/grade parties, field trips, teacher needs), attend monthly Parents’ Council meetings and report pertinent information back to the classroom parents, communicate to the Parents’ Council the status of their classroom and grade-level activities, and uphold the goals set forth by the Parents’ Council.  Parents' Council Presidents collaborate with Division Heads in order to fill these positions.


 

P. E. Field Day (LS) (Spring) (1day)
Volunteers are needed to assist the P.E. Department with the Field Day in May. Field Day volunteers are needed to sell concessions and serve food.  This is a fun way to watch the kids enjoy a fun day.  Light volunteer commitment.


 

P. E. Funhouse (Grades 1-4) (Fall) (1 Day)
Volunteers are needed to assist the P.E. Department to organize and coordinate the Fun House in October.  Fun House volunteers help with the set up the day before, organize and coordinate during the Fun House, and break down afterwards.  This is a wonderful event to enjoy with your child.  Light time commitment for volunteers.



Pizza Day (LS/MS) (Mondays) (Fall and Winter Sign-ups, light time commitment)
Pizza is served at the Lower and Middle schools on Mondays every week. Two volunteers are needed each week to serve students. This is approximately a 1.5 hour time commitment.  Proceeds from Pizza Day are the largest Parents' Council contributor to the Parents' Council Grant Program.


 

Private School Interscholastic Association - PSIA (LS/MS)
The PSIA is an opportunity for St. Andrew's Lower and Middle School students to compete with area private schools in a variety of academic challenges. Volunteers are needed to assist the Lower and Middle School faculty liaisons in the following areas: publicity, record keeping and mentoring competitors in speech, writing, math, science and art.  



Upper School Project Graduation (12th grade)

Project Graduation is an all-night event, free from alcohol and other drugs, for all graduating Seniors.  It is coordinated by volunteer parents of seniors dedicated to providing their teens with a safe alternative to celebrating their graduation.  Volunteers will assist with planning, organinzing, and chaperoning.  Multiple shifts are available.



School Supplies Collection (Lower School)
Volunteers work with Head of the Lower School to collect and sort leftover school supplies that Lower School students do not want to take home. The collected items are donated to children who would otherwise go without school supplies.



Senior Grill Outs (12th grade) (Easy volunteer time commitment)

Volunteers provision and oversee periodic lunchtime grill-outs for seniors.


 

Junior/Senior Prom (US) 
Volunteers are needed to assist the Student Senate in planning and preparing the Junior/Senior Prom generally held in April/May. Teachers act as chaperones.


 

Technology Angels (Grades 1-2)

Volunteers are needed to assist with 1st and 2nd grade computer lab classes. Each class meets once a week.  Being a Computer Angel volunteer allows you the opportunity to work directly with your child and their homeroom class in the computer lab!


 

Technology Committee (LS/MS) 

Volunteer your technical expertise. Graphic Artists are needed to create flyers and signs throughout the year. Web savvy helpers can help create and maintain websites for parent portals and other school needs.



Teacher Workroom Volunteers and Coordinator (Grades 1-4) 

 Volunteers will be making copies, laminating and completing various other small projects for the teachers.  All projects come with detailed instructions.  The time commitment: 20-45 minutes; the times are flexible -come and go any time during school hours.  Volunteers choose their own schedules.  This can be a one-time opportunity or volunteers may sign up for once a month or more.   A volunteer calendar will be sent out at the beginning of the year for reserving spots.  The Chair will be available to help with questions by phone or to meet in the workroom for a quick run-down if needed.  This is a great volunteer job because of the flexible schedule!!! The projects are easy and it is fun to get a sneak peak at what the kids are working on!

 

Chair will be coordinating with teachers and parents to maintain the volunteer calendar & ensure that the teachers are getting the work in a timely manner.   Chair will also be available to answer questions volunteers may have about using the equipment, where to find supplies, etc.  The copy and project  boxes should be checked weekly to ensure that work isn't backing up.


 

Office Help (US only)

Volunteering at the front desk is a great way to get to know students and teachers better. You check students in and out of school, serve as the host/hostess for visitors, provide Advil and bandaids when necessary, and redirect phone calls. Shifts are only for one hour or 1 1/2 hours at a time. Come be a regular!
