Kristen Benjamin Takes Over Girls Basketball Program
St. Andrew’s is delighted to announce the appointment of Kristen Benjamin to the position of Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach/Program Coordinator.
Additionally, Benjamin will continue in her post as Associate Athletics Director/Health & Wellness Coordinator.
This past season, Benjamin led her Middle School Girls Basketball squad to a regular season Austin Inter-Parochial League (AIPL) first place finish, before advancing to the championship contest.
She takes over the program from Trisha Tuck, who stepped away from the school to focus on her increased professional responsibilities.
“I first and foremost want to thank Trisha for her four years of service to our basketball programs, and wish her nothing but the best in her quickly advancing career,” Director of Athletics Jeff McCrary said. “We are beyond ecstatic to add a veteran basketball mind like Kristen Benjamin to the helm. Her work over the last year both as an administrator has helped shaped a new curriculum, and have no doubt will advance our girls basketball program in similar fashion.”
Prior to her time at St. Andrew’s, Benjamin served in a similar capacity at the was the Middle School Athletic Director and Fitness/Wellness Department Chair at The Archer School for Girls in Los Angeles, CA for 11 years.
At Archer, she also coached Varsity Basketball, Softball, and Volleyball as well as served as an academic dean for several years.
Benjamin played collegiately for four years at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX, where she still ranks among the all-time leaders in free-throw percentage.
Following a Bachelor of Science degree from Trinity, the College Station native, obtained her master’s degree at Texas A&M University.
Upon her appointment Benjamin shared, "I am very excited about the opportunity to work with the Varsity basketball team this year and am looking forward to a great season! I do wish Coach Tuck the best in her new position and know that she will be missed at St. Andrew’s."
