Jeff is heading into his 10th year as Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. In 2012, St. Andrew’s took 4th place in the SPC Division I Tournament, which was the best finish in school history. The following year, he led the Crusaders to a Division II Championship.
St. Andrew’s regularly plays a very challenging schedule, including 5A and 6A public schools. As a head coach, his teams have had many big wins, including Austin High, Hays, Hendrickson, Manor, Marble Falls, McCallum, Rouse, Stony Point, Temple, and Vandegrift in non-conference play.
Jeff is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. While at UT, he served as a manager for the men’s basketball team for three years. In his final season, the Longhorns made it to the Final Four for the first time in over 50 years.
He is married to the former Melissa Barrett, and they have two sons together (Houston and Barrett).
Jackson enters his fourth year as the top Varsity Assistant Coach. A graduate of LBJ High School in Austin, Jackson was part of the famed Fab Five at the University of Michigan. He was part of the recruiting class which included former NBA players Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Juwan Howard, and Jimmy King. Their teams reached the 1992 and 1993 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship games as both freshmen and sophomores. As a senior for the Wolverines, Jackson average 16 points per game.
He was drafted in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) by the Grand Rapids Hoops with the 35th pick in 1995. While with the Hoops, Jackson received the 1995–96 CBA Rookie of the Year Award.
Jackson runs a non-profit organization called Rise Up, which assists children socially, educationally and on the basketball court.
Jordan Kpaka is going into his second year of coaching at St. Andrew's. Jordan assisted the JV and JV2 teams in 2013-2014. Jordan has been coaching for 5 years, which includes coaching fall league teams for Gorzycki Middle School, Hill Country Middle School and the Westlake Hoops AAU team. Jordan Kpaka went to college at Grambling State University, where he played football and basketball for the Tigers. Along with coaching, Jordan is a personal trainer and has been training for over 6 years. Basketball and fitness has always been a passion of his, but he is most passionate about helping the less fortunate from his mission trips to his home country of Sierra Leone, West Africa.
Dano Mataya is originally from the north Houston area and graduated from Cy-Creek High School. Dano went on to play Division III collegiate basketball at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Dano started games all four years and was named defensive player of the year for Southwestern University in 2013. He graduated in May 2014 with a degree in business. Dano also currently works as the Activities Director at Camp Balcones Springs.
Chris graduated from Cayuga High School in Bethel, Texas in 1991 where he lettered in football, basketball and track. He served as a team captain for all three sports his senior year. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas in 1997. He started his teaching and coaching career at Pflugerville Middle School in 1998. He went on to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in 2000 and currently teaches Lower and Middle School Physical Education and serves as a seventh grade boys’ advisor. He started as boys’ lower and middle school basketball coach, moved on to boys’ JV2 basketball, to JV 1, then to Varsity assistant. He also has coached flag and tackle football at the lower and middle school, as well as track and field at all levels at St. Andrew’s. He is a member of Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAHPERD), Texas High School Coaches and Association (THSCA), and Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC). He has worked numerous summer basketball camps at The University of Texas and Point Guard College (PGC). Off the court or field, Chris has a passion for health and fitness. He plays in local beach volleyball tournaments, flag football, adult basketball and bocce leagues.
