Camp registration will begin on Thursday, March 1, 2018.

Join St. Andrew's for a summer of fun and friendship! We offer camps for aspiring artists, athletes, scientists, musicians, chess enthusiasts, cooks and more.

When: June 4–July 20, 2018 (Camps will be closed July 2-6)
Where: St. Andrew's Episcopal School (1112 W. 31st Street and 5901 Southwest Parkway)
Who: Youth and young adults ages 4-18 from all schools are welcome!

  • Location

    Please pay special attention to where your class will be located. The Lower & Middle School campus is also known as the 31st Street campus. The address to that location is 1112 W. 31st Street, Austin, Texas 78705. There are also camps and classes at the Upper School campus which is also known as Southwest Parkway, the address to that campus is 5901 Southwest Parkway, Austin, Texas 78735.
  • Register for Camp

    1. Download the camp catalog to read camp details.
    2. Click on the yellow "Register" button (There may be a slight delay in loading the registration form).
    3. If you are sending multiple campers, please fill out a separate form for each camper!
    Cancellation Policy: Camp cancellation/refund requests must be emailed to summercamp@sasaustin.org. Cancellations made 14 days before a program starts will receive a full refund less a $50 processing fee. Requests received between 7 to 13 days before the camp starts will be 50% refunded. Refunds will not be issued for requests received less than 7 days in advance of the camp start date, except in cases of an emergency.
  • Early Arrival and Aftercare

    Summer at St. Andrew’s provides early arrival and aftercare supervision for children attending camp at the 31st Street campus only beginning at 8:00 am and concluding at 5:00 pm. This service is free of charge to those that have registered for a full day of camp. For those registered for a half day of camp, this service can be added for $40 a week. Please note that If you attend a morning camp or class at Southwest Parkway and another in the evening (5:00-8:00) then you must be picked up by a parent or guardian at the conclusion of the morning session as there will be no supervision available between the conclusion of your morning camp and the start of the evening session.
  • Drop-off & Pick-up

    For the 31st Street campus, drop-off and pick-up will take place on Bailey Lane and 31st Street. Students attending Theatre camp will drop-off at the Dell Fine Arts Center at the Southwest Parkway campus and individuals attending athletics camps at the Southwest Parkway campus will drop-off and check-in near the athletics fields. More specific details will follow in a subsequent email.
  • Lunch & Supervision

    Summer at St. Andrew’s does not provide lunch for its participants, please be sure to pack a lunch if your child will be attending camp all day. Students will eat a supervised lunch beginning at 12:00 and concluding at 1:00. If your child is registered for a full day of camp this service is free of charge. For those registered for a half day of camp, this service can be added for $40 a week. St. Andrew’s is a nut-free campus, please avoid sending your child to camp with a lunch or snack that contains any type of nut.
  • Student Conduct

    It is an expectation that all participants of Summer at St. Andrew’s conduct themselves in a kind, considerate and respectful manner to their instructors and peers. Disruptive behavior will first be handled by the teacher and then by the Director of Summer Programs. Repeated disruptive behavior may result in a student being dismissed from camp without refund.
  • Class Sizes

    Many of the classes have a minimum and maximum enrollment for the classes to be successful. In the event that the class does not meet minimum enrollment, you’ll be notified of the cancellation and be fully refunded.

    Chess Camp includes formal instruction and play, plus a camp-wide tournament at the end of the week! -Beginners learn basic chess theory, game objectives, piece movement, game and tournament rules.
    -Intermediates study chess analysis and decision-making, tactics, checkmate patterns and tournament strategies. -Advanced students are taught more sophisticated chess techniques and decision-making, complex tactics, calculated and intuitive sacrifices, opening and endgame analysis.
     
  • *All Day* Summer Film Camp (Grades 8-12)

    St. Andrew's presents an exciting new summer camp in partnership with the Austin School of Film! For two decades arts non-profit Austin School of Film has hosted over 20,000 youth students through our award-winning summer camps and youth programs. This summer, Austin School of Film is bringing the fun to St. Andrew's!

    Austin School of Film's award-winning Digital Filmmaking camp explores and experience every aspect of filmmaking. Students will work in crew-format collaborating and sharing ideas to create their own 5 minute short film. Students will learn hands-on with exercises in composition, camera movement, storyboarding, image, sound development and editing instruction with Final Cut Pro X. From idea to screenwriting, planning, production and post - students will experience every step needed to create a real short film using real professional equipment and industry standard platforms. All supplies are provided and students will have access to professional 27" iMac computers, fully loaded with all the best creative software and all the film gear. This class has a six student minimum and 12 student maximum.

  • *All Day* Summer Musical Theater Camp (Grades 6-12)

    Summer Musical Theater Camp offers Middle and High School students a week of fantastic performance preparation, culminating in a production for family and friends in the Dell Performing Arts Center. Students will develop and improve their vocal, acting, and dancing abilities in a fun group environment. Final Performance: Friday, June 8th at 5:00 p.m
  • *All-Day* Creekside Explorers: "The Legend Continues" (Grades 1-5)

    Creekside Summer 2017 recap:  Chased by a poison ivy monster (CHECK!)  Successfully ambushed poachers with water balloons to foil their evil plot (Poachers may or may not have been counselors dress as poachers) (CHECK!)  Caught fish from creek and raced them against rival fish in a canoe (CHECK!)   
    You get the idea.  Creekside is a BLAST for all children seeking adventure in Shoal Creek.  Programming for 2018 may include but is not limited to humane live animal traps!  Fairy house building!  Beaver dam building competitions!  Creek-stomping!   Craw fish befriending!   We are expecting camp to SELL OUT so get a spot while you can! This course has a 10 student minimum and a 24 student maximum.
     
  • *All-Day* Verano en Español: (Grades 5-18)

    "Verano en español is an opportunity for beginner to intermediate students to practice Spanish in a fun and relaxed environment.  Each day of Verano en español is a mix of grammar and vocabulary practice along with hands-on activities and special visitors.  Activities for the week include cooking projects, nature walks, gardening, a talent show and music along with grammar practice, reading time and vocabulary games. Students grades 5-8 are welcome." This class has a five student minimum and a 20 student maximum. 
     
  • 3D Printing 1: (Grades 1-8)

    3D Printing 1: All students will learn the basics of 3D printing. Students will learn the basics of how the technology and software of 3D printing works, while creating their own 3D designs using Tinkercad and other CAD (computer aided design) software. This course has a six student minimum and sixteen student maximum.
     
  • Athena University: (Grades 1-5)

    Students will learn Latin vocabulary, mythology, Roman history and culture, the Greek alphabet, and more! We will play certamen (a Quiz Bowl-style game), read simple stories in Latin, and act out mythological plays. No prior knowledge of Latin is required!
     
  • Books and Art: (Grades Pre K-2)

    Enjoy a week immersed in reading and art making.  In this camp, young artists will allow books to inspire their art ideas.  We will ready storybooks that encourage artistic thought and reflection, and then respond through experiences with drawing, paint and clay.  Each camper will have the opportunity to explore art materials, create a personal illustration describing a scene from a favorite book, and use mixed materials to build a book-inspired mobile. Campers will even construct their own sketchbooks to be used throughout the week. Come join us for a week of story and creation!  This course has a 4 student minimum and a 10 student maximum.

    Put on your detective hat, and become a CSI investigator with this week-long class that explores topics in forensic investigation, evidence collection and techniques, and problem solving. Observe a crime scene, and take fingerprints and footprints. Question subjects, and perform DNA and blood analysis.  Through the use of science and technology, discover clues left behind that may be invisible to the naked eye!  From analyzing handwriting to taking teeth molds, students will enjoy this hands-on camp where they will develop their detective skills and help solve a mystery!
     
  • Introduction to Rock Climbing, Indoors and Outside: (Grades 6-12)

    Come join Middle School Teacher and certified AMGA Rock Guide, Mr. Judycki as he teaches you the basics of rock climbing. During your time in this course students will learn how to tie proper knots, how to put on a harness, helmet, rock climbing shoes and the correct use of a chalk bag. Students will also learn how belay others and use commands. Throughout the course of the week, students will learn how to climb indoor at a local climbing gym and ultimately receiving their top level rope certification. To conclude the course, students will go outdoors to a local area on the Greenbelt for outdoor climbing. Families will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the rock climbing gym and Greenbelt. This course has a 12 student maximum.
  • Little Coders: (Grades K-2)

    Our Little Coders camp is an opportunity for young children to develop their computational thinking skills, build their first programs,
    and have fun with new friends! The curriculum is designed specifically for early readers and takes into account cognitive abilities as well as the attention span typical for ages 5-7. Students are introduced to basic coding concepts in a variety of ways, from playing coding board games like Robot Turtles to programming their first games or animated stories. We use age-appropriate online tools, including code.org, Lightbot, Kodable and Scratch. After the camp, students will be able to share their projects with family and friends and continue programming at home with their Coding with Kids Scratch account.
  • Math Exploration & Enrichment: (Grades 3-4)

    Come have fun with Math and STEAM-like activities! Each day will consist of number routines, games, and challenges that develop problem-solving skills. We explore the beauty of mathematics that continues beyond just the numbers. Each week will create its own unique learning opportunity for the students with new content. There is a ten student minimum and twenty student maximum for this course.
     
  • Medical Science: Future Doctors (Grades K-2)

    Little Doctors work on learning about what makes our body work.?From learning about digestive systems and building working models?of our lungs while studying the respiration process, our Little Doctors are engaged in learning throughout. We learn about casts, sutures?and more, and we end the class with a clinic to showcase our talents. One of the most popular camps each year with a fantastic turnout as young campers explore the beginning stages of becoming a doctor. Starting with science exploration and experiments, as well as creative play, the campers enter the world of medicine. Don't have your doctor's bag with you? Don't worry- you will after completing this camp. Campers will proudly carry a doctor’s bag filled with all the necessary tools, as well as a graduation certificate as a graduate of Idea Lab Medical School. This camp has a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10.
     
  • Sports Plus Jr. – Session 1 (Grades 1-3)

    Been watching big brother or sister go off each day to Sports Plus camps and wished you were old enough to go too?  Sports Plus Jr. is for entering first, second, and third graders.  Boys and girls participate in group games as well as individual challenges appropriate for their development level.  This one-week camp includes one field trip to Pump It Up, a camp t-shirt, and a daily snack.  This camp has a 40 student maximum. 
     
  • Tinker, Dabble and Doodle: (Grades 3-5)

    -Students will delve into the world of redesigning a wide variety everyday objects such as pencil sharpeners, lamps and bicycles.
    -Students will learn the power of doodling to jump start their creativity and thinking process as they deconstruct and find new uses for common objects.
    -Students will discover the magic of simple foldings through the ancient art of origami.
    This class has a 10 student minimum and a 15 student maximum.
     
  • We are Superheroes (Grades PreK-1)

    Ka-pow! Superheroes unite! We'll explore the heroics of famous superheroes and enjoy visits from real superheroes (police officers and firefighters). We'll create our own superhero identities and powers. STEAM activities include costume designing, games, art projects, story adventures and superhero challenges. This class has a six student minimum.

    3D Printing 2: After mastering the basics of 3D printing technology with Tinkercad and other CAD software, students can now work in the advanced software Sketchup. They will create their own 3D printed designs and become leaders in the school expansion of 3D printing! This course has a six student minimum and 16 student maximum.
     
  • Adventures with the Guitar: (Grades 2-6)

    Join Mr. Mayers for a week of musical adventures. Campers will learn to play simple classical, folk and rock melodies, and strum chords. All skill levels welcome. The week will include special guest guitarists who will share some of their magical sounds. Additional beginner instruction will be offered between noon and 1 p.m. each day. The week will end with an informal concert open to families and campers from other programs. All campers should bring their own guitars. This class has a six student minimum and a twelve student maximum.
     
  • Architecture of the Universe (Grades 4-8)

    In this hands-on class we will explore sacred geometry in many forms. Topics include the drawing of the flower of life, painting traditional mosaics of the middle-east, and illustrating the symmetry found in nature. Each class will explore a different topic and no two classes will be the same. This camp has a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10.
  • Beginner Game Development (Grades 2-6)

    Start your coding journey by creating your own games! Campers will learn the core concepts of computer programming that will lay the foundations for future coding success. A variety of projects, such as chasing games, mazes, and animated stories, will allow campers to use their creativity while learning coding concepts like loops and variables. Our unique curriculum and smaller class size provide personalized instruction that helps students progress at their own pace while being appropriately challenged. Students will have access to their own Scratch account that will allow them to continue working on their coding journey at home.

    In this course, we will explore myths and legends from around the world. We'll discover stories Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Native American, Hindu mythology, and more! We will meet a range of heroic characters from Odysseus and Aeneas to Loki and Krishna and see their many depictions in works of art. Each day in the course will explore a specific mythological world, and students will have choices of characters and stories to explore in detail. All grades of middle and upper school students are welcome! This class has a ten student minimum.
     
  • We’ve got Green Thumbs (Grades PreK-1)

    Let's dig into the world of plants! We'll explore the inside world of our outside garden with hands-on fun. STEAM activities include water exploration, art activities, songs and story adventures, and seed and plant experiments. We'll even attempt to grown plants from our (provided) socks! This class has a six student minimum and a 60 student maximum.

  • Baseball (Grades 5-9)

    The Baseball Camp is designed for the camper who wants to enjoy the outdoors, acquire some baseball knowledge, and make new friends. The emphasis of this camp is both on the fundamentals of baseball and on having fun. Students will receive top-notch instruction from the St. Andrew's Upper School baseball coaching staff. Coach Bratcher has won over 800 games as a Head Coach, so grab your glove and bat and get prepared to learn some great fundamentals from a great coach. This camp will run Monday-Thursday.
     
     
  • Boys & Girls Soccer (Grades 5-12)

    The Boys & Girls Soccer Camp will emphasize the fundamental skills needed to become a better soccer player. With an emphasis on technical skills and basic offensive and defensive concepts, players will be exposed to all aspects of the game and encouraged to try every position. Students will receive top-notch instruction from Coach McPake and other coaches from the Dundee soccer club.. This camp has a 15 student minimum,
     
  • Boys Basketball (Grades 9-12)

    The Boys Basketball Camp is a fun way to improve skills and team concepts. Instruction will include both individual skill development, as well as various offensive and defensive team concepts. Campers will also participate in individual contests and 5-on-5 games. Students will receive top-notch instruction from the St. Andrew's Upper School boys basketball coaching staff.
     
  • Boys Lacrosse (Grades 3-8)

    The Boys Lacrosse Camp features two levels to allow players of all ages and skill level to develop and learn in a competitive and fun environment. Drills and game-like situations will be among the many facets of this camp. Students will receive top-notch instruction from the St. Andrew's Upper School boys lacrosse coaching staff. This camp has a eight student minimum.

    Come join Middle School Teacher and certified AMGA Rock Guide, Mr. Judycki as he teaches you the basics of rock climbing. During your time in this course students will learn how to tie proper knots, how to put on a harness, helmet, rock climbing shoes and the correct use of a chalk bag. Students will also learn how belay others and use commands. Throughout the course of the week, students will learn how to climb indoor at a local climbing gym and ultimately receiving their top level rope certification. To conclude the course, students will go outdoors to a local area on the Greenbelt for outdoor climbing. Families will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the rock climbing gym and Greenbelt.     Printmaking Camp is an exciting way to learn about new art techniques!  Throughout history and around the world, artists have used printmaking to create and reproduce unique works of art.  Campers will explore several different types of printmaking, including collograph, scratch prints, monoprints and carved rubber stamps.  We will view and discuss prints from around the world, including Japanese woodcut prints, wax prints from the Ivory Coast of Africa and American pop screen prints.  Each artist will make plenty of prints to take home as well as prints to trade with their friends. This class has a five student minimum and a ten student maximum.

    St. Andrew’s Technology Coach, Dr. Alexandra Baird, will engage students in the writing process to develop ELA (English Language Arts) literacy, digital literacy, and creativity. Students will publish their fictional story, which focuses on a problem-solution plot, in both a paper and digital story book. Students will use a variety of tools to hand-write their story draft, type their story, and illustrate, including paper and pencil and digital drawing tools and images. Students will also add voice-overs and digital embellishments to create a multimedia product they are sure to be proud of!
     
     
  • Hovercrafts and Things that Go Zoom (Grades K-3)

    Have you ever wondered why planes fly so high? How do helicopters just hover as if they were a hummingbird? What are the future applications of flight? Young campers will ask these questions as we explore the science of flight. They will even examine the use of flight by animals. Projects include different flying apparatus, stop-motion animation, and the exploration of all the things that fly.This camp has a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10.

    From viewing cellular activity under a microscope to a real dissection, students will love this hands-on science camp!  Campers will learn all about the body in the anatomy lab where they will design prosthetic hands, investigate what happens in the digestive tract, and build a model brain!  We will study our animal friends in the vet science lab and learn how polar bears survive frigid temperatures.  Our little doctors wrap up this fun week with a mock clinic where they will diagnose and treat patients!

    Mother Falcon Music Lab is a 5-day crash course in how to write songs and collaborate with a band. During the week, you will learn how to write a song, create a band name, create a logo for your band, and even design a shirt to represent your group.  You will also have a chance to learn about writing lyrics, creating light shows and animations for your performance, improvise on your instrument and so much more! Throughout the week, you will also get to meet and speak with local performers, journalists and leaders in the music industry, Founded in 2010 by Austin-local band Mother Falcon, we accept students age 10-18 who play any instrument you can imagine. And we are now accepting vocalists as well! Come out and jam with us, and celebrate your voice!

    Join world renowned running legend and St. Andrew's Cross Country and Track Coach Gilbert Tuhabonye and focus on running form, biomechanics, breathing, relays, Olympic handball, and most importantly, FUN! Groups will be divided into skill level and age. The basics of running will be covered including: Agility drills, Circuit training, Workouts to build power, Speed building, Endurance training and flexibility strategies. Students are responsible for their transportation to Zilker Park.  This is your chance to come and learn from a true running authoritarian!

Investigate a pretend crime scene and sift through clues to crack the case. Join the Mad Science Bureau of Investigation and sniff out forgeries and counterfeits.     With the new Maker movement underway, IDEA Lab Kids offers amazing opportunities for campers to innovate, design and learn process engineering. This class is heavy on critical-thinking and problem solving where campers will utilize their Engineering Journals to document thought-provoking hands-on activities in order to fully absorb the creative process of Engineering. Imagination is the key to this class as campers Tinker and Build and Explore their way to cool gadgets and crazy contraptions.This camp has a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10.

    Foodie Kids has been a local favorite for more than 25 years and continues to teach generations of Austin’s budding chefs the skills they need to feel comfortable and excel in the kitchen. At this camp, the kids will learn a “Farm-to-Table Foodie Story” as they create recipes. Recipes and hands-on culinary curriculum are carefully curated and skillfully written by professionally trained chefs with a passion for teaching kids. Students will make recipes from scratch using fresh ingredients, local and organic when available. A set of recipes will be sent home each day along with any food that hasn’t been eaten. This course has an eight student minimum and a 12 maximum.
  • Medical Science: Future Doctors (Grades K-2)

    Little Doctors work on learning about what makes our body work.?From learning about digestive systems and building working models?of our lungs while studying the respiration process, our Little Doctors are engaged in learning throughout. We learn about casts, sutures?and more, and we end the class with a clinic to showcase our talents. One of the most popular camps each year with a fantastic turnout as young campers explore the beginning stages of becoming a doctor. Starting with science exploration and experiments, as well as creative play, the campers enter the world of medicine. Don't have your doctor's bag with you? Don't worry- you will after completing this camp. Campers will proudly carry a doctor’s bag filled with all the necessary tools, as well as a graduation certificate as a graduate of Idea Lab Medical School. This camp has a minimum of five students and a maximum of 10.

    Make “brain goo” and check out your bones as you travel the oregon trail.  Go inside a scientist’s lab and discover the secrets you’ve always wondered about.  Make your own radical reactions, a crazy chemical clock, Mad Science mucus and more.  Compare fingerprints and discover the mysteries of cells with a slimy cell model. Become a Mad Science detective by investigating the crime scene of a Mad Science mystery.  Use your new forensic skills to solve the crime! This class has a 10 student minimum and a 25 student maximum.

    We will offer an SAT and an ACT Prep Class. Students can sign up for the SAT or the ACT class but not both. Prices will be $500 for the full class (both Math and Verbal) or $280 for an individual Math or English. Class satrts at 5pm for ACT Math and ACT English until 6:10pm. Then a 10-minute break. At 6:20pm we start ACT English and ACT Math until 7:30pm.
