Kindergarten Staff

"This is the opportunity of a lifetime for an educator. I have a true love for this age and how joyfully they learn."  Kathy Wynn, Lead Kindergarten Teacher

Our Kinder Team

Teachers are at the heart of a vibrant, dynamic, and creative teaching environment.  More than anything, St. Andrew’s teachers have a love for young children.  This love inspires continual pedagogical training in classroom management, social and emotional skills, project-based learning, and techniques for building literacy and number skills.  Our teachers have a deep understanding of how young children learn and explore the world.  A team of six teachers—three leads and three assistants— work fluidly in Eleanor Hall to create learning opportunities and experiences for children that foster academic and social emotional growth.  Ultimately, our teachers get to know every child and therefore can support each child’s individual learning journey.

Home Visits

Forming strong relationships with children and parents is at the heart of great teaching, learning, and community building. In the fall of 2017, we initiated home visits with incoming kindergarten students. For teachers the visit provides a chance to learn about each child's interests and personality. Children share their toys, books, and play with teachers in their own space, which gives them a sense of independence and engagement from the start. During the visit, parents share their hopes and dreams for the school year with the teachers. Ultimately, establishing this relationship between teacher and child early helps every child feel a sense of connectedness and familiarity on the first day of school.
