AUGUST 26 SPECIAL DRAFTING CEREMONY BY SAS CHEER

St. Andrew’s Episcopal School will officially draft Evangelina Romanova as its newest honorary varsity cheer team member on Monday, August 26 at 4:30 pm on the Dell Fine Arts Center patio.

"We are beyond thrilled to welcome Evangelina and her parents Viktoria and Alexander Romanova to the St. Andrew’s cheer program,” Associate Athletic Director Josh Blumenthal said. "We hope to enhance the lives of the family and current team members through the power of cheer and support."
The Romanova family will be officially welcomed to the team during a draft party, at which time Evangelina will sign her official draft letter, and receive Highlanders apparel.

Evangelina is a five-year-old girl, who in March of 2018, was diagnosed with Leukemia. She is presently in treatments with an end date of September 2020.

The match between the Romanova’s and St. Andrew’s was made through Friends of Jaclyn (FOJ), a nonprofit organization based in New York. Their mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers and to raise awareness through their Adopt-A-Child, Safe on the Sidelines, and Guardian Angel Programs.

The match marks the third for Highlanders Athletics as the varsity lacrosse (boys) and softball teams are also partnered with the organization.

St. Andrew’s joins the rapidly growing list of FOJ school partners, which includes the University of Cincinnati (baseball), Amherst College (field hockey), University of New Hampshire (men’s ice hockey), Lake Forest College (football), and University of Florida (softball).
