Katherine Bowie Named Associate Athletic Director and Field Hockey Program Director
(Austin, TX) St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Head of Upper School Ben Courchesne and Director of Athletics Jeff McCrary jointly announce the hiring of veteran NCAA coach and player Katherine Bowie to the positions of Associate Athletic Director and Field Hockey Program Director.
“Katherine brings with her an impressive skill set that will be a tremendous addition to our entire Field Hockey program, as well as our athletics' program as a whole,” McCrary explained. “Coach Bowie comes to us with amazing feedback, and our time meeting with her has only reinforced that. We are excited to embrace her northeast and mid-Atlantic style of play as well as her vast connections in the sport, and she will undoubtedly be a visionary leader for the whole Highlander Field Hockey program.”
The Readfield, Maine native will join the Highlanders' community following an NCAA head coaching stint at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
Leading the Colonels since 2020, she has been tasked with all facets of running a successful NCAA program including on-field coaching, recruiting, budgeting, player development, and academic well-being of her student-athletes.
Under Coach Bowie’s watch, she recently had two players named as 2020 NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction.

Bowie also spent time with the successful and storied Bates College program of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), where she rose in the ranks from an Assistant Coach to the position of Interim Head Coach.
During her time in Lewiston, Maine, she either assisted or led the team in all aspects inclusive of recruiting, academic monitoring, film breakdown, scouting, travel plans, and coaching.

On the club side of the game, Bowie has been heavily involved with Revolution Field Hockey Club, serving as Camp Director. In addition, Bowie was the Coaching and Curriculum Director of the Coastal Field Hockey Club.
Her work on the club scene along with being a long-standing member of the National Field Hockey Coaches Association will be great assets for the Highlanders' program.
Inside the classroom, she has held a variety of positions at St. Margaret’s School in Virginia, including science teacher, student monitor, and field hockey coach.
The former Saint of Siena College (Albany, NY), competed on her NCAA DI team while obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a minor in Educational Studies, Biology, and Latin.
She would go on to complete her post-collegiate work with a Masters in Catholic School Leadership in St. Joseph’s College in Standish, Maine.
"Katherine brings a high-level knowledge of the game, an ability to forge relationships, and a sound understanding of independent schools," Courchesne shared. "We believe she will play a key role in the athletic resurgence at St. Andrew's."
A virtual meet-and-greet for Coach Bowie will be held in the near future.
