10 Middle School Students Earn Spots in Texas Region Honor Band

On Saturday, December 4 the St. Andrew's Middle School Band sent 10 students to Smithville, TX to audition for the Association of Texas Small School Bands Region Band.
More than 400 7th and 8th grade students from twenty five different central Texas schools competed for spots in this prestigious Region Honor Band.

These students spent months learning several scales and two audition etudes for the audition and played for a panel of 5 judges.  All ten students earned a spot or an alternate spot in the Region Band setting a new school record.  This is the ninth time that St. Andrew’s has placed students in the band.  These fantastic musicians are Flute: Arun S. ‘27 (1st overall) and Finn D. ‘27 (3rd alternate). Oboe: Ethan K. ’27 (1st in concert band (3rd overall)). Clarinet: Nina U. ’27 (8th) and Alex S. ’26 (14th).  Alto sax: Luke W. ’26 (7th) and Austin T. ‘27 (2nd alternate).  Bari sax: Chase N. ‘27 (1st overall). Trumpet: Daniel A. ’27 (8th).  French horn: Asher J. ‘27 (1st overall).

This is quite an amazing accomplishment against some tough, experienced competition.  These students will perform a concert with the other all-star musicians who made the band on January 15 in the beautiful Bastrop Wilhelm Performing Arts Center.  Congratulations to these outstanding musicians for their hard work and great accomplishment!
