Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrated Across Divisions

September 15 marked the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, and students celebrated across both all divisions.
Hispanic Heritage Month goes from September 15 to October 15 and celebrates the accomplishments, cultures, and stories of the American Latino community.

Lower School enjoyed a community chapel where we welcomed Karla Montserrat Zapata from Amor por Panama. She performed traditional Panamanian folkloric dances for our students. Afterwards, Senora Meador led students in several Spanish-language songs, including “The Spanish Speaking Countries” song, where each class represented a different flag of a Spanish speaking country. Students delighted in raising their assigned country’s flag at each point in the song.

Middle School also celebrated in chapel, this time with the beautiful musical accompaniment from Middle School band, percussion, and orchestra. Students performed “Baila Esta Cumbia” by Selena and “Cariño,” a traditional Mariachi song. The CIA (Culturally Inclusive Allies) Cabinet also put together a presentation for their classmates.

Upper School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month in Chapel on the Green, enjoying paletas from local business Mom and Pops.

Thank you to the Spanish team, the DEIB office, the CIA Cabinet, and Ana Garcia for helping our students observe this important month!
