Former four-year varsity cheerleader at Tarleton State University (NCAA DII) Leslie Driskell has been named new Crusader Cheer Program Coordinator.
Driskell, who has been cheering since the age of 13, will head up a Crusader squad that sees all but one athlete return in 2017.
"We are elated to have Leslie Driskell join our St. Andrew's athletic family," Athletic Director Jeff McCrary shared." He said further, "The cheer coaching position is incredibly important, as it a key cog in developing the spirit of the entire school. We were excited by the vision of Coach Driskell, her background in the sport, and her forward-thinking mindset."
While cheering for the Texans of Tarleton State, Driskell performed at football, volleyball, and basketball events. She and her squad also competed at national competitions around the country. Driskell continues her work with a number of charitable organizations.
The Round Rock resident will begin her new post immediately and presently works in the education field.
"I am so blessed and grateful to have the opportunity to be the new Head Cheer Coach for SAS," Driskell said. "I look forward to an awesome year, and I hope to create a few more traditions that will last a lifetime."
