Mohammadi ‘20 Rises to “Expert” Level in U.S. Chess Federation

St. Andrew’s student Sina Mohammadi ‘20 made big strides in his chess game at the 8th Annual Austin Chess Club Championship this month. The event included more than 150 chess players, and Sina managed to take first place in the U2000 group. Not only did he win $275, his ratings rose above the 2000 level, officially making him a “Chess Expert” according to the U.S. Chess Federation. Sina has been playing chess since kindergarten, and played in St. Andrew's Beyond the Classroom (BTC) chess program through fourth grade, when he was named Austin Chess champion. Congratulations to Sina on making it to this next level of chess mastery!
