SAS Musicians Featured at JEN Conference

Our Upper School jazz and music teacher, Dr. Dave Guidi, recently presented at the Jazz Educator's Network (JEN) national conference held in Dallas. Each year, JEN hosts a four-day conference for high school and college music educators and industry professionals that features student and professional concerts and a variety of presenters.
Dr. Guidi's talk centered on student engagement through arranging concepts and relevant assignments and also included demonstration recordings performed by St. Andrew's students.

The Jazz Educator's Network plays a vital role for the nation through their mission of "advancing jazz education, promoting performances, and developing new audiences." JEN offers scholarships, a young composer competition, grants for schools to bring in local artists (which St. Andrew's has taken part in), and mentor programs. Recently expanding, the convention includes a jazz festival for school ensembles and places students, educators, and professional musicians together for numerous presentations and world-class performances.
