SAS Hosts "Ready, Set, Go" Resource Fair

St. Andrew’s hosted Con Mi MADRE’s “Ready, Set, Go” resource fair in August to help local Latina students get ready for their school year. Admissions officer and alumna Jasmin Vara ‘09, who volunteered at the Upper School event, remarked, “I have fond memories of my back-to-school days, and it's great St. Andrew's wants to help other Austin students feel excited and prepared for the next step in their education."
The fair included a donated backpack distribution, and resource tables by Austin organizations like Latinitas, PelotonU, and Grief & Loss Counseling. Jasmin ran into alumna Sophie Osella ‘10 at the Out Youth table too.

The fair was one highlight of an ongoing partnership between St. Andrew’s and Con Mi MADRE, an organization that empowers young Latinas and their mothers through educational services that increase success in post-secondary education.

St. Andrew’s also continued its partnership with Breakthrough Austin this summer, hosting Breakthrough’s summer program for students from low-income communities who will be the first in their families to graduate from college.
