This year our annual St. Andrew’s Day celebration has a few new tweaks to it!

#1 - Early Dismissal for All K-12 Students
All students will be dismissed immediately following the lunch (ending around 12:30 pm).
  • Lower & Middle Schoolers will ride the St. Andrew’s buses back to 31st Street campus for carpool dismissal, arriving in the 12:50-1:15 pm timeframe depending on traffic. *There will be no BTC after-care.
  • Upper Schoolers will be dismissed at 12:30 pm
#2 - Semi-Formal Dress Day
Students and faculty should plan to wear semi-formal dress, which is the same as formal dress except there is no coat and tie requirement. Acceptable dress is:
  • Dress shirt (tucked in and buttoned), belt, slacks, and dress shoes
  • Dress or skirt and blouse with dress shoes. (Length should be appropriate for the occasion and allow a student to sit comfortably.)
St. Andrew's Day Schedule - Friday, November 30
  • Normal morning arrival time for LS, MS, and US students to respective campuses
  • 8:45 am - Busses from LS/MS campus depart for US
  • 9:30 am - St. Andrew's Day service begins
  • 11:00 am - Service ends, lunch is served outside on Nazro Green (dress for weather!)
  • 12:30 pm - Busses depart for LS/MS campus
What is St. Andrew's Day?
It's an annual tradition celebrating our patron saint and the members of our community dedicated to serving others (This year we celebrate on the actual feast day of Saint Andrew). The entire K-12 school community attends a chapel service at the Upper School gym with a Holy Eucharist, special music, awards, and a sermon. All parents and alumni, along with Episcopal priests from the Austin area, are invited to join in the celebration. After the service, a school-wide luncheon is held.

If my child is in the Lower or Middle School, do I need to drive them to the Upper School?
No, you should follow your usual drop-off procedure at the 31st Street campus. Students will ride St. Andrew's busses to and from the Upper School campus with their teachers.

Are parents and alumni invited to attend St. Andrew's Day?
Yes! No RSVP required. Find a seat in the Upper School gymnasium by 9:30 am.

I'd like to help out on St. Andrew's Day, what should I do?
We would love your help! Sign-up to volunteer  or contact parent volunteers Nicky Brennig (nbrennig@jw.com) and Jennifer Roossien (jenroossien@att.net) with any questions.

Does my student need to wear a jacket/sport coat and tie?
No. This year we are following semi-formal dress guidelines, which are identical to formal dress except no jacket or tie requirement. Lunch is served outdoors on the Nazro Green, so be prepared for weather accordingly.
