Record-Breaking 29 Vocalists Make Region Choir, 16 All-State
“This year we had a record 29 students make the [TPSMEA] Region Choir and 16 students make All-State, which is amazing,” said Cate Gasco, St. Andrew’s Upper School Choir Director. Sending 29 students to Region Choir means over 60 percent of St. Andrew’s Upper School vocalists received this honor. (Scroll down to see the complete list of St. Andrew’s selectees.)
Top-ranking Region Choir students from every region in the state also compete for spots in All-State Choir. This year 16 St. Andrew’s vocalists and one alternate were selected, which means 8 percent of the entire All-State Choir is from St. Andrew’s.
Cate elaborated on this accomplishment, “To make All-State, students have to rank in the Top 25 singers in their section in the state. We actually have eight All-State students with Top 10 ranking this year, which is pretty cool!”
Now that the selections have been made, you can hear these talented vocalists perform together in their respective festivals in January 2019.
The TPSMEA Region 3 Choir will perform in Houston at St. Agnes on January 11 and 12. The TPSMEA All-State performance is in Dallas at the Eisemann Center on January 24-26. You can hear an excerpt from a previous All-State performance here: https://youtu.be/TXr6lxebrn0
Congratulations to our students on their accomplishment!
