Updating the mySAS Login Process for Parents

April 2022

General Information

What: Parents will create a Blackbaud ID to log into mySAS (SAS students, faculty & staff have been doing this since Fall 2021)

When: Beginning the week of Monday April 4, 2022

Why: Blackbaud (the company that hosts mySAS) is enforcing this change for stronger overall security. The new Blackbaud ID system uses your email address to log in, so you're less likely to forget the username, and if it's a Gmail account, you don't even need to set a password!

How: The process is described in detail below but the highlights are:

  1. During the week of April 4, 2022 you will receive an email inviting you to set up a Blackbaud ID

  2. When you accept the invitation you will either create a Blackbaud ID account, or if you have a Gmail account you will now use that to log into your mySAS account.

  3. After the process is complete, you will use your new credentials to access mySAS

First Time: How to Update your mySAS login

1. The week of April 4th, 2022 you will receive an email that looks similar to the message to the right inviting you to set up a Blackbaud ID. In the email, click Accept Invitation to begin.

2. You’ll be brought to a webpage similar to the image to the right.

If you have a Gmail email account, simply click the Sign Up with Google button at the bottom.

If you do not have a Gmail email account, fill out the fields in the form and click Sign Up.

3. Follow the additional prompts to finish the Sign Up process.

Ongoing: How to login to mySAS

1. Go to the mySAS login page, as always

2. In the username box, fill in the full email address you have on file with mySAS (where you received the Invitation).

You no longer will put in the Username you’ve been using.

It is a good idea to also check the "Remember me" box which will save your email address in the username field.

3. If you use a Gmail account, you’ll be prompted to login with your Google account info, or if you’re already logged into Google you’ll be brought right to mySAS!

If you do not use a Gmail account, login with your email address and BlackbaudID password you’ve already set up.

Troubleshooting and Best Practices

  • Every individual has their own mySAS Blackbaud account, and it is best to log in with your own credentials for full functionality.

  • Blackbaud IDs are unique email addresses. If parents share an email address in mySAS they will not be able to have separate accounts.

  • Add sasaustin@myschoolapp.com; sasaustin@myschoolemails.com; and noreply@blackbaud.com to your safe sender list in your email client.

  • Make sure that you are logging into https://sasaustin.myschoolapp.com (mySAS) NOT blackbaud.com (the corporate web site).

  • Make sure that you are using your email address as your username, not the old firstnamelastname username.

  • If you previously saved your old Blackbaud username (firstnamelastname) in your web browser, your web browser may helpfully offer to log you in with it rather than your new Blackbaud ID. This site offers instructions to clear autofill suggestions for mySAS (search for sasaustin.myschoolapp.com) - you don't need to clear all your data, just for this one website.

  • If you use a password helper like 1Password, LastPass or DashLane, you will also need to clear or change the entry for mysas.myschoolapp.com, since it will otherwise helpfully input your old username and password, and complicate the login process.

  • Clearing your cache (stored images and files that your web browser saves when it visits a website) often fixes login troubles when you change login usernames. Here's a list of help pages for a variety of web browsers: Click the link for your browser below and follow the steps to clear your browser history, and delete your browser cache and cookies:

    1. Chrome

    2. Firefox

    3. Internet Explorer 11

    4. Internet Explorer 10

    5. Edge

    6. Safari

    7. Opera
