Anything but “One Normal Night”

The Addams Family Musical brings finger-snapping ghoulishness to the stage at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School
AUSTIN, Tex.—This February, St Andrew’s Upper School presents The Addams Family Musical, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. The musical centers around themes of love and acceptance, featuring the eccentrically macabre Addams family, who were originally created by the American cartoonist Charles Addams.

“Our production of Addams Family is dripping with talent!” says Katie S. ‘27, who plays Wednesday Addams in the double cast production. “From our amazing leads to the ensemble, everyone is so passionate, dedicated, and genuinely wants to see us as a whole succeed. The love for the arts emanates when we perform and intoxicates the crowd, creating a one of a kind experience you can't miss!”

When Wednesday Addams falls in love and invites her “normal” boyfriend and his parents to dinner, she must persuade Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley, Grandma, Fester, and Lurch to behave like a typical American family. Can the Addams family pull off one normal night? Secrets are revealed, potions consumed, and marriages threatened. Will love win in the end?

“It is just such a fun show in general!” says Anna Jane F. ‘28, who plays Grandma Addams.“I think people will really enjoy how truly funny and quirky the show is, as well as the light that it brings … Every single character is hilarious, and a little bit unhinged, which just adds to the joy!”

The Addams Family Musical will be presented from February 4-8, on the mainstage of the Dell Fine Arts Center on the campus of St. Andrew Episcopal’s School’s Upper School at 5901 Southwest Parkway.

“We have some incredible talent and the musical numbers are phenomenal for a high school show. I think if someone wants a good laugh and to be blown away by a production then this is the show for them,” says Allegra P. ‘26 who also plays Grandma Addams.

Curtain time for Wednesday through Saturday’s evening performances is 7:00 pm, with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 2:00 pm. Single tickets are $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office before each performance or online at tinyurl.com/SASAddamsFamily.
