Latin Students Compete at the 2026 NJCL National Convention

by Allison J. '27 and Nina U. '27
This summer, nineteen St. Andrew’s Middle and Upper School students traveled to Indiana University for the NJCL National Convention, joining Latin students from across the country and abroad.
At this 73rd annual convention, students competed in various academic, creative, and athletic events to show off their talents and knowledge of the ancient Mediterranean. Students also participated in daily spirit events, helping Texas place first overall in spirit for the week. Additionally, opportunities for connecting with fellow students abounded at colloquia and social events. After the convention, they explored Indianapolis, going to the Zoo and to a Minor League Baseball game.

Several St. Andrew’s students competed in competitive Certamen, representing Texas in all three divisions. Mia C. ‘29 played with the Novice team representing Texas, which placed 6th after making it to the semifinals; Marley S. '29 played at the Intermediate level with the Texas gold team; and Quinn E. '26 and Nina U. '27 represented Texas on the Advanced level, making the semifinals and placing 4th overall!
