St. Andrew’s Middle School Fine Arts Program is enormously popular and inclusive, with many opportunities for students to explore, learn, and grow.

Sculpting, sketching, and collage art projects refine fundamental skills and expose students to new creative media. Band, Orchestra, and Percussion ensembles teach students to harmonize and maintain synchronicity, while our Choir and Theatre classes build vocal strength and dramatic interpretation.

School events throughout the year bring our artists together to showcase their talents, while regional and state-wide competitions let our students shine on a larger scale. St. Andrew's students consistently make top-ranking at these events, a true testimony to the dedication and expertise of our Fine Arts faculty.

Additionally, our Middle School students put on dramatic plays and full-scale musicals each year, taking advantage of the world-class Dell Fine Arts Center at the Upper School campus.

  • Get Ready for Summer at St. Andrew's

    It's time to start thinking about your summer plans - that means summer camp at St. Andrew's! Our summer camp is open to everyone, so feel free to invite a friend or family member who doesn't attend our school.
     
    What: Summer at St. Andrew's camp
    When: June 3-July 19, 2019. *Camp will be closed July 1-5.
    Who: Open to all Austin youth ages 4-18 - invite friends to join you!

    How to register:
    1) Download the camp catalog to read camp details and make your selections before registering
    2) Visit www.sasaustin.org/summer. Click on the yellow "Register" button to begin the process. (You can also download the camp catalog on this page.)
       
    Camp highlights include:
    • Sports Camps such as basketball, lacrosse, and soccer taught by our St. Andrew's coaching staff
    • Classes by Mad Science Camp, Camp Einstein Idea Lab

  • Ing ‘23 Wins Gold Key in Scholastic Art Competition

    Eighth-grader Fiona Ing won a Gold Key award in the Mixed Media category of the regional Scholastic Art Competition this month.  Her work, made with ink, pencil and pen is named "Who Rules the Future?" She and Middle School art teacher Kate Torres attended a special exhibit and ceremony in honor of the winners at St. Stephen's.

  • Upper School Choir Returns to Carnegie Hall on March 23

    Every two to three years, since 2004, the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Choir has answered the call to shine its musical light on the stage of New York’s legendary Carnegie Hall. Their 2019 visit, on Saturday, March 23 at 7 pm, will be their eighth appearance under the auspices of MidAmerica Productions.

  • Middle Schoolers Kick-Off House Competition

    The annual tradition continues! This week our sixth-graders were officially inducted into their respective Houses, where they’ll join seventh- and eighth-graders to compete in academic, creative, athletic, and service-focused activities throughout the year.

    For these special occasions, you might spot our Middle Schoolers wearing their House shirts: Bailey (yellow), Henry (green), Nazro (purple), and Wilson (red). The House with the most points at the end of the year will win the coveted House Cup!

  • MS Performs Full Version of "Into The Woods"

    St. Andrew’s Middle Schoolers took on the full version of Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Into The Woods” this month under the guidance of teachers Jason Kruger and Annie Blancken. Thinking of the musical challenges, Annie remarks, “The students had to work very closely with me to learn the complicated rhythmic and lyrical passages in this musical. It is truly amazing that they were able to perform it! Most middle schools do a junior version, which excludes the second act. We chose to do the full version, which was a huge risk.   • 6th Grade’s “Beauty and The Beast”

    The sixth grade put on a stunning musical performance of the Disney classic “Beauty and The Beast” this month. Their stamina was tested with two special preview performances for their St. Andrew’s peers before the official performances on April 13-14.   • Six Students Qualify for State PSIA Competition

    Congratulations to our 18 Lower and Middle School students who placed at the Private Schools Interscholastic Association (PSIA) District 8AA meet this month! Six of those students—Claudia Ellington ’22, James Graham ’26, Ainsley Owen ’25, Ella Parker ’22, Anna Wayne ’24, and Avery Wayne ’22—placed first or second in at least one subject, qualifying them to compete in the PSIA State competition on Saturday, April 28, at Texas Christian University.
