Lower School Students Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

This week the Lower School celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with a student led assembly. Several 5th grade students provided a brief history of Hispanic Heritage Month in the US and highlighted some influential Americans of Hispanic descent.

The students sang a song highlighting the 21 nations of the world where Spanish is an official language. Each homeroom represented one of those nations and had decorated a flag from that country which they held up when their nation was mentioned in the song.

There was also a performance of several songs by the amazing Austin singer-songwriter Lesly Reynaga, including traditional songs from Mexico and an original song titled "Lines".

The assembly ended with a school-wide sing-a-long of the traditional Mexican song "Cielito Lindo".
