Moten selected as first-ever Boys Volleyball Program Coordinator
St. Andrew’s School Athletic Director Jeff McCrary has appointed former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and National Association of Athletics (NAIA) Coach Timothy Moten to the position of Head Boys Varsity Volleyball Coach/Program Coordinator.
Moten joins St. Andrew’s after spending the last few years coaching at Texas Lutheran University, St. Edward’s University, Southwestern University, and Huston-Tillotson University. He was part of a number of Conference championships during his time.
“As we enter a new era in our athletics department with the addition of boys’ volleyball, we are excited to have a coach of Tim’s caliber,” McCrary said. “His experience at both the collegiate level and local Austin area makes him the ideal choice to help launch the program.”
The Texas native currently serves as a full-time coach for the Austin Junior Volleyball Association, serving as a head coach and athletic development coordinator. He played his high school ball for nearby Lanier High School before attending Huston-Tillotson University.
“I'm thrilled about his new challenge and grateful for this opportunity,” Moten shared. “With this new chapter comes great responsibility, and I plan to uphold the tradition of greatness St. Andrew's offers. I can't wait to bring passion, fresh energy, and my love for the game of volleyball to the campus.”
The team will play their inaugural contest on August 31st when they host Fort Worth Country Day School inside the SAS Gymnasium.
