St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Brings High-Energy Broadway Hit Legally Blonde The Musical to the Stage
AUSTIN,TEXAS— Get ready to paint the town pink! This November 12-15, St. Andrew’s Upper School proudly presents Legally Blonde The Musical, with music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin and a book by Heather Hach.
Based on the novel Legally Blonde, by Amanda Brown, and beloved 2001 film of the same name, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods, a fashion-savvy sorority president whose life is turned upside down when her boyfriend, Warner, dumps her to attend Harvard Law. Determined to win him back, Elle hits the books and tackles the Ivy League herself. Along the way, with the help of new friends, a Delta Nu Greek chorus, and her trusted Chihuahua, Bruiser, Elle proves that staying true to yourself never goes out of style.
Featuring a catchy score, explosive choreography, and a sharp, hilarious script, this student-led production showcases the extraordinary talent, passion, and dedication of St. Andrew’s students. Greta J., who plays Kate, comments "Legally Blonde is such a fun and energetic show and everyone in the cast is really radiating that energy which is why it's going to be such a wonderful show." She continues, "the whole cast is just so amazing and supportive, it's so cool to see people from different grades all support each other." Ainsley J. adds, “the level of talent this year is unmatched. As an ensemble I've not seen a group this dedicated to getting better and making a great show more than this one during my time at SAS.”
Legally Blonde delivers an uplifting message about empowerment, defying stereotypes, and finding your own voice. Ainsley J. (who plays Elle for two performances) says, “Legally Blonde gives the message that you don’t need to dumb yourself down for others and that through hard work you can achieve more than you ever thought you could!”
Legally Blonde The Musical will be presented from November 12-15, on the mainstage of the Dell Fine Arts Center on the campus of St. Andrew Episcopal’s School’s upper school at 5901 Southwest Parkway. Curtain time for Thursday through Saturday’s evening performances is 7:00 pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:00 pm. Single tickets are $25. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office before each performance or online.
