Planned Giving

The Bailey Society is St. Andrew’s recognition society for all individuals who have named St. Andrew’s as a beneficiary of their estate plan.
The Bailey Society, named in honor of Bishop Scott Field Bailey who helped found St. Andrew's Episcopal School, recognizes donors who support the future of SAS by including the school in their wills, insurance, or other planned giving. St. Andrew’s is extremely grateful to these individuals as their generosity and foresight will enable SAS to maintain its growth and stability, enriching the lives of future generations.

What is The Bailey Society? The Bailey Society is a group of donors securing the future of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School by giving to the school in their wills, retirement beneficiary designations, or other planned giving instruments.

How do I become a member of The Bailey Society? You become a member of The Bailey Society upon notifying the school of your intention to make a gift in a will or other vehicle for planned giving by signing The Bailey Society Letter of Intent.

What minimum amount can I designate? There is no minimum gift for The Bailey Society. St. Andrew’s Episcopal School appreciates and will accept planned gifts of any amount.

How will I be recognized? The names of Bailey Society members are listed in the Annual Impact Report and on our website.

A Few Planned Giving Opportunities:

List of 3 frequently asked questions.

  • IRA or 401(k) Beneficiary Designation (the easiest way to support SAS through planned giving!)

    Benefits:
    • It’s so easy to do!
    • You can avoid income and estate taxes on the residual in your account.
    • You can continue to make withdrawals during your lifetime.
    • You can change beneficiaries throughout your lifetime.
To change a retirement beneficiary, you can contact the company or organization that manages your retirement plan. You can ask them for the necessary forms to change your beneficiary, fill them out, and submit them back. Some plans may require additional consent, such as from a spouse before the change can be made. Check the specific rules and procedures of your retirement plan. These can usually be found in the plan documents or on the plan's website. If you have any questions or need assistance, consider reaching out to your plan administrator or financial advisor.
  • Wills and bequests

    • You have control of the assets during your lifetime.
    • You can make modifications to the will or bequest.
    • There is no limit on estate tax deductions for your charitable bequest.
    • These contributions reduce the taxable value of your estate.
    • You support the future of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and future generations of students.
    • *Note: There is no minimum gift—we appreciate and accept all designations.
  • Life Insurance

    Benefits to you:
    • You receive the immediate income tax deduction for the cash value of the policy.
    • You can make a generous gift to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School without affecting your cash flow.
    • As a result of transferring ownership of a life insurance policy to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, the school will later receive the policy's death benefit.

Please consult your legal and financial advisors to plan your legacy giving to St. Andrew’s.
