Alums run NYC Marathon

Congratulations to our SAS alums for finishing the 2023 NYC Marathon. Sophie Dolan ’16, Pouya Mohammadi ’17, Evans Miller ’10 and Maggie Miller ’13 ran the 26.2 miles through all 5 boroughs of New York City in November.
Pouya Mohammadi had run the Brooklyn half marathon, but NYC was his first full marathon. Sisters Evans and Maggie were also first-time marathoners. This was Sophie Dolan’s second NYC marathon, and fourth overall, as she had previously run Brooklyn and Madrid.

All four alums entered the NYC Marathon by fundraising for official charity partners. Collectively, Sophie and Pouya raised over $6,000 for Fred’s Team, which benefits Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Evans exceeded her fundraising goal for the Children’s Scholarship Fund, raising nearly $4,000 in scholarships for low-income families in NYC. Maggie raised $4,835 for the Make-A-Wish foundation, exceeding her goal as well, granting wishes for children with critical illness.

The alums traced their love of running back to running with joy with SAS’ own Gilbert Tuhabonye. They all remarked on how fun this marathon was, and how special it was to raise money for charity. We at SAS are proud of these alums for striving for more than just the finish line in their service to others.
