MS Band Leaders Plan Spring Trip

Danny Schmidt, LS/MS Band Director
The Middle School Symphonic Band and the 8th grade Advanced Percussion traveled to Galveston for their spring trip the weekend of April 22.  Most of the trip was planned and beautifully executed by students leaders from the group.
The group played for Sunday morning worship services at the amazing and beautiful Trinity Episcopal Church on the island.  As their music soared from the balcony above, the congregation was moved to applause upon the conclusion of the postlude’s syncopated rhythms and intricate harmonies of “Mallet Mambo.”

The group also participated in cleaning up trash and debris on the beach before jumping in and enjoying some sizable waves.  Other highlights included a visit to Pleasure Pier, an amusement park that jets out over the water with high flying swings, roller coasters, and many other exciting attractions, as well as having some “mall time” at the Houston Galleria on the return trip to Austin.
